   Cotard's Syndrome[Cotard's Delusion]

Cotard's syndrome is a very rare mental disorder,where patient holds a delusion that he/she do not exist now, putrefying[act of decomposing] or sometimes holds a delusion of lose of blood  or internal body organs.Its also called as a ''Walking Corpse Syndrome''

 This syndrome is described by a Neurologist ''Jules Cotard " in 1880. He said that  it is a mental illness of various severity.

Causes:-

1. Brain infection
2. Brain tumor
3. Dementia[Loss of memory]
4. Epilepsy[Unconscious]
5. Migraines[Headache]
6. Multiple sclerosis[Disease of brain and spinal cord]
7. Stroke[Damage to the brain from interruptions of its blood supply]
8. Parkinson's Disorder[Disorder of central nervous system]

Symptoms:-

1. Delusion[False belief] 
2. Anxiety
3. Hallucination
4. Hypochondria[Always worried]
5. Guilt

Treatment:-

Electroconvulsive Therapy  [ Also known as a ''Electroshock therapy'' ]
It's a Psychiatric treatment in which seizures are electrically induced in patients to provide a relief from mental disorders

A boy met to a motorcycle accident  in 1990,after he got discharged from hospital, his mother took him to south africa.But he was convinced that he had been taken to hell since he was in strong believe that he already died i.e   '' Cotard Syndrome''

• Patient usually gets into normal  stage after the treatment.
