  L et's Reveal.... Erotomania [Pseudo Belief of someone Loving you] Erotomania is of two forms. Primary form is a condition where a patient holds a false belief that another person is in LOVE with him/her. A person can be anyone to whom the patient has never even meet. eg celebrity, politician,actor,etc. This condition is so rare,onset,chronic & mostly seen in females[ Shy,dependent and Sexually inexperienced] The sufferer may also feel like a person is trying to convey his love with different tricks. Secondary form is found along with mental disorder like Hallucination, Persecutory delusion[delusion like someone is mistreating or harming you] and a grandiose ideas[over confidence like person has lots of talent and he is responsible for many discoveries] It was first described by G.G. De Clerambault in 1885 How Rare : Chances of getting Erotomania is 0.2 % in lifetime. Complications : In severe cases, erotomania can cause someone to show risky or aggressive behavior. A Suff

Kuru [Laughing Death]

                       Kuru [Laughing Death]
It's a  rare non curable fatal  neurodegenerative disorder which is mostly found in fore people[people who live in okara district of eastern highlands]

 Where ''kuru'' means trembling[Shaking]

It was discovered in between 1951-1953 by D.Carleton Gajdusek.
Kuru disorder causes brain and nervous system changes, it's also called as "laughing diseases" because patient burst out by laughter.
Kuru, usually found among people from New Guinea,where people practice cannibalism[Eating flesh of one's own species]
Caused by transmission of abnormally folded proteins [prion proteins] which results in neurodegneration.
Unfortunately patient die within 11-14 months from the day of suffering.

 Causes:-
  • Transmission of infectious protein
  • Cannibalism             
Symptoms:-
           Burst laughing
           Severe Weakness
           Arm and leg pain
           Headache
           Tremors and Muscle Jerks [shaking muscle]
           Difficulty in Swallowing

Treatment:-
           No treatment nor medications available.
[The more one reduce the practice of cannibalism  the more kuru disorder rate decreases]

Diagnosis:-
                 Neurological Test

How rare is this?
2,700 cases were reported by 1957-2004
Sadly, all end up with death

Why they practice cannibalism?
Family member is cooked and eaten, after his/her death to help spirit free from the death
[Unki athma ki shanthi ke liye ]

Women and children usually consume brain part[ where infectious prions are highly concentrated] and hence women's and children suffer more.

Is cannibalism practiced today?
As per 2012, people in New Guinea were still practicing cannibalism.
